Changing Plans

Not many of us predicted how this year would go, as recently as spring most would not have
thought we would be in this state of reduced travel or more accurately voluntary isolation. When we left
Mexico last spring we put down a deposit for this winter, heck we even bought a large plastic container
and packed it with things we would not be bringing home and looked forward to using in 2021. Those
beach towels and assorted other goods are going to be just fine with out us.

Things change, and so do our plans. Normally this would be the time we are making plans for a
winter vacation, and I will admit how easy it was to get into that habit. I knew I liked to travel but getting
away in January or February just seemed to fit naturally into our calendar.

It was not that tough a decision to come to the realization that was not happening this winter,

actually it probably came about in July or August. So now the choice became what am I going to do this
winter.

I find it surprisingly easy to find things that will occupy my time, much easier than coming to
grips with the idea that some of that time may be spent shoveling snow.

This could be the winter that I read some of the books I have on my shelf, the ones that I have
been promising to read “someday”. It appears “someday” might get here next month.

Last week I shared with you that I have began to take pictures of the little churches in our area
and that there was a photo book in the works. I was suprised to learn how many more of these structures
are nestled in he woods just of the highway. My project has grown dramatically. While I thought snow
was my enemy, I found that just a bit of snow on the roof made for some interesting pictures.

The plans have also changed from scouring travel brochures to doing a bit more research on the
capability of my camera. I know that my skill level does not test my camera by any means so a course or
two in that regard is on the schedule as well.

It seems that the hardest part of changing plans was the decision to change plans, once I decided
to stay home there were any number of things that presented themselves as interesting options. Actually I
am not at the point of putting the travel plans in the 2022 calendar, and I am okay with that.
