What Now?

It is that time of the month to select a book from the client shelf and none fits the time better than
an offering from Velvet Tomassini. The book is titled What Now, with a tell all subtitle Keep it in your
pocket.

It is a few years since I worked on the project with Tomassini but the lessons are more true today
with what we are going through then the were in the boom times and they were pretty valuable them.
Tomassini makes the point about saving money for a goal and letting earned interest help you rather than
credit card debt drown you. Not a new concept, but a valuable lesson.

She dedicated the book to her daughter who was just at a turning point age (aren’t we all) and the
book was released in time for high school graduations. She looked after the marketing of the book so I
don’t know if she was able to get local business to buy a copy for high school grads, which was our plan.
Going through the 160 pages of the book to prepare this column I could not help but think how a
successful financial planner like Tomassini was at the time had some great advice not only for those that
were finishing high school but for just about any point in life.

Nuggets like Life can be pulled by goals just as surely as it can be pushed by drives or Too many
people spend money they have not earned to buy things they don’t want to impress people they don’t like
are not only for teenagers.

If you have a recent or about to grad in the family Now What? Could be a great investment in
their future.

She even takes a swipe at the cost of a big wedding, it all about financial literacy.
